Ingredients
-
1 lb strawberries, chopped
-
⅓ cup beets, grated and softened (use steamer or water sautè)
-
1 tbs raw honey (Manuka preferably)
-
1 ½ packets of gelatin powder (about 2.5 tbls)
-
1 tbls elderberry syrup
-
1 tbls freeze-dried breastmilk (optional)
Directions
Combine strawberries and softened beets in a food processor and blend until smooth.
Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a medium sauce pan and strain out the seeds and extra pulp. You should end up with about 1 cup of strawberry beet juice inside the saucepan.
Add your honey, elderberry, freeze-dried breastmilk and gelatin powder, stir well to combine
Let stand for 3-5 minutes, allowing the gelatin to ‘bloom’ and thicken the mixture.
Transfer to stove top and heat on low while gently whisking. You want the “sauce” to turn back into a juice-like consistency. Once achieved, set aside to cool.
Carefully transfer the liquid to your silicone molds using a dropper, or go old-school and use a glass pyrex dish like granma used to make for your jello.
Allow gummies to set and firm up by placing them in the fridge for at least 6 hours, overnight preferably.
Remove gummies from molds and enjoy! Store in the fridge or freezer and serve chilled.
