With my firstborn I discovered my milk I had higher lipase after testing my thawed breast milk. He would take bottles of freshly pumped milk but not previously frozen so, I got curious and tried my supply. The milk had a soapy taste to it!? After some google research I found out it’s normal and began “scalding” my milk after pumping but it would destroy most the nutrients. It was quite a process and time consuming. I loved breastfeeding but I also wanted some freedom from it as well. Fast forward almost 6 years later and I’ve got the same thing going on with my second baby. 🤷🏼‍♀️ So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out you could do this! On top of the excess lipase, I’m also an “over producer” so pumping isn’t really something I enjoy doing all that much. This is 4 months of pumping, once a day but not everyday. I’m proud of my body for feeding two kiddos. I’m also excited to enjoy a little bit of freedom knowing my milk will be tasty in the bottle now too!
